An HDR file stores a high-dynamic-range raster image using Radiance's RGBE encoding, which packs red, green and blue mantissas with one shared exponent per pixel so a scene can hold a far wider range of brightness than a standard 8-bit image.

What is a .muse file?

A .muse file is written in Emacs Muse, a lightweight markup for authoring documents inside Emacs that publish to HTML, LaTeX, and other formats from one source file. It predates most of today's lightweight markups and is closely tied to the Emacs text editor.

Do I need Emacs to open a Muse file?

A .muse file is plain text, so any text editor displays it, but only Emacs with the Muse mode installed understands the markup and can publish it to HTML, LaTeX, or another output format. Converting it to a mainstream document format is the practical way to read it elsewhere.

What's the difference between Muse and Org-mode?

Both are Emacs markup languages for writing plain text that publishes to multiple formats, but Org-mode, created in 2003, has a far larger and more active community and covers far more ground than authoring, including task management and literate programming.
