VOC to TTA Converter
FileFlip converts VOC to TTA entirely inside your browser, using FFmpeg compiled to WebAssembly. The file is never uploaded to a server: it is read off your disk, converted on your own machine, and saved back by the browser. That means no file-size limit, no queue and no account.
How do I convert a VOC file to TTA?#
- Drop your VOC file onto the converter at the top of this page, or click it to pick one from your computer. You can add as many as you like.
- Leave the target set to TTA and the conversion starts on its own. FileFlip downloads 30.8 MB of WebAssembly the first time and nothing after that, then runs FFmpeg on your own machine.
- Save the TTA file. Your browser writes it straight to your downloads folder, because there was never a server holding it.
Does converting VOC to TTA lose quality?#
It depends on what is inside the file. VOC is a container rather than a codec, so whether the TTA conversion copies the streams across untouched or re-encodes them is decided by the codecs that particular file happens to use.
Is it safe to convert VOC files online?#
Yes, because nothing is uploaded. FileFlip converts VOC files inside the browser tab you already have open, using WebAssembly builds of the same engines a desktop converter would install. Your file is read from your own disk into the page's memory, and no request carrying it is ever made.
You do not have to take that on trust. Open your browser's network panel, run a conversion, and you will see the engine come down and your file go nowhere. There is no upload, no server-side copy, no retention window, and no account tied to what you converted.
How FileFlip works lists every engine, its version and its download size, and shows how to check for yourself that nothing leaves your machine.
What VOC to TTA actually does to the file#
Converting VOC to TTA runs on FFmpeg, downloads 30.8 MB of WebAssembly the first time and nothing after that, re-encodes or copies through depending on the codecs in the file, and drops encoded streams.
| Engine | FFmpeg |
|---|---|
| Conversion path | One step: VOC → TTA |
| Downloaded to your browser | 30.8 MB, once, then cached by your browser |
| Quality | Decided by the codecs inside the file |
| You get back | One file |
| Where it runs | In a background worker, so the page stays responsive |
What survives the conversion
| What is in the file | This conversion | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Encoded streams | Dropped | The target format has nowhere to put it. |
What is a VOC file?#
A VOC file holds audio in Creative Voice File format, the format Creative Labs introduced alongside the original Sound Blaster card in 1989 for storing digitized speech and sound effects in DOS-era games.
VOC mainly shows up today inside old DOS games and their emulation via DOSBox, where the original sound assets were never converted to a newer format.
Convert VOC to WAV to play or edit the audio in current software, since almost every modern audio tool reads WAV and very few still read VOC.
What is a TTA file?#
A TTA file holds audio compressed with True Audio, a lossless codec built by Aleksander Djuric around real-time hardware encoding, so it decodes with very little CPU overhead compared to other lossless formats.
There is little reason to choose TTA over FLAC for a new lossless rip today; it mainly persists in existing archives and on older hardware players that already support it.
Convert TTA to FLAC for playback on current phones, players, and software, since FLAC covers the same lossless ground with far wider support.
VOC to TTA questions people ask#
What creates a VOC file?
VOC files come from Creative Labs' own Sound Blaster recording software and from DOS-era games that shipped their speech and sound effects in this format, since VOC was the native audio format for early Sound Blaster cards.
What still opens VOC files?
Audacity and VLC open VOC files on any current operating system, and DOSBox reads them as part of running the original DOS games they came from. Mainstream media players generally do not support the format.
What should I convert a VOC file to?
Convert VOC to WAV for the widest compatibility with current media players and audio editors. Most VOC files hold uncompressed PCM data, so converting to WAV loses nothing.
What creates a TTA file?
TTA files come from ripping or archiving software that specifically chose the True Audio codec, most often foobar2000 or other Windows-based lossless ripping tools, and from a handful of portable media players that supported TTA natively before FLAC decoding became cheap enough for their hardware.
