Does converting ENFF to STL lose quality?#
Not in the sense of pixels or samples. Converting ENFF to STL rebuilds the file in STL's own model rather than re-encoding it, so everything STL can represent comes through exactly and anything it cannot has to be dropped. Expect the geometry to be exact, and anything the target has no place for, such as a rig, to be left behind.
Is it safe to convert ENFF files online?#

What is an ENFF file?#
An ENFF file is plain text written to the Extensions of the Neutral File Format document dated April 16, 1993, which adds positional lights with intensity and colour, an ambient shading term, and Bezier and NURBS surface patches on top of the base NFF primitives.
Use ENFF only alongside an existing renderer or scene archive that already relies on its Bezier or NURBS extensions to NFF.
Convert ENFF to OBJ or another mesh format once its patches have been tessellated into polygons a modern application can open.
What is an STL file?#
An STL file is a triangle mesh created by 3D Systems in 1987 for its stereolithography 3D printers, storing nothing but a flat list of triangle facets and their normals, with no colour, material or unit of measurement attached.
Use STL when the only destination is a 3D printer's slicer, which is all the format was designed to feed.
Convert STL to 3MF when colour, material or unit information needs to travel with the geometry, since STL has nowhere to put any of it.

What is an ENFF file?
An ENFF file is a Neutral File Format scene extended with positional lights, an ambient shading term, and Bezier and NURBS surface patches, on top of the spheres, cones and polygons the base NFF format supports. The extensions were documented on April 16, 1993.
How is ENFF different from NFF?
NFF describes a scene with simple primitives like spheres and flat polygons, while ENFF adds curved surfaces, Bezier and NURBS patches, along with richer positional lighting, on top of that same base syntax. An ENFF file with none of the extended features used is effectively an NFF file.
What software reads ENFF files?
Support is limited to the same small set of renderers and libraries that already handle plain NFF, with Assimp's importer being one of the few still maintained. There is no mainstream 3D application that opens ENFF directly.
What is an STL file used for?
An STL file is the standard input for 3D printer slicing software, storing a model's surface as a list of triangles with nothing else attached. Slicers use it to work out where to lay down material layer by layer.
