What is an ASF file?#
An ASF file is Microsoft's Advanced Systems Format container, the streaming-oriented wrapper that holds Windows Media Video and Windows Media Audio content along with its own metadata and digital rights management.
Keep video as ASF, meaning WMV, only when it needs to play through Windows Media Player or a Windows Media streaming server that already expects it.
